Pinnacle offers extensive experience in providing a broad range of asbestos management
related services. These services cover all phases of asbestos management and include the
following:
- Facility inspections and assessments for suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACM)
using the requirements set forth in the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act
(AHERA) 40 CFR Part 763, Subpart E. Although this regulation presently applies only
to primary and secondary schools, it has been referenced by OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1101 as
the method for identifying and reporting ACM in buildings of any type.
- Three year re-inspections and six-month surveillances for school district compliance with
AHERA.
- Phase Contrast Microscopy (PCM) air sample analyses in accordance with NIOSH
Method 7400, Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) bulk sample analyses and dispersion
staining in accordance with the EPA Reference method (Pt. 763, Subpart F., App. A),
and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) air and bulk sample analysis.
- The development and implementation of operations and maintenance (O&M) programs
to minimize the potential hazard posed by ACM exposure. An effective O&M Program
safely manages ACM by implementing a set of specific procedures and practices that are
applied to building cleaning, maintenance and renovation activities.
- Training and awareness seminars - Pinnacle offers a fourteen hour training course
designed specifically for maintenance and custodial workers who come in contact with
ACM. A two hour awareness seminar is offered for building owners and managers as
well as building occupants. Both training courses have been designed to meet the
requirements of AHERA and OSHA.
- Project design and project management of large scale abatement activities - Whether in
occupied office buildings, apartment buildings, vacant factories, or any other facility,
asbestos management projects require significant planning to be accomplished safely and
completely. Pinnacle can develop technical abatement specifications that incorporate
EPA, OSHA and local regulations for guidance on asbestos removal, control, and air
monitoring required during the removal project.
- Throughout the project, continual evaluation of work practices, air quality, and
regulatory compliance can help to insure that the project is actually completed as
planned.
- In support of a typical abatement project, we collect and analyze pre-abatement air
samples and perform pre-abatement inspections; provide continuous on-site surveillance;
collect and analyze all abatement and final air samples; review contractor air monitoring
data; perform comprehensive visual inspections upon completion of abatement activities;
document the contractors’ work practice activities; and prepare a final report
summarizing the abatement project.
